This last weekend I got to unplug a bit and go visit family that I wasn’t able to see over Christmas. The first outing involved a 40min drive up to my wife’s Aunt and Uncle’s place in Redmond. We had a very nice time playing Pinochle, and exploring the grounds of their very nice farm. They have four horses, and enough property for you to forget how close to the city you really are. I had a lot of fun there, and I have a number of fine art images to post, along with some portraits. One of the nice things about this time of year is that I get to flex my nature and landscape fine-art muscles a bit, which is fun! For those of you looking for more wedding and portrait images, I do have a number of posts planned for the rest of this month, so know that I’ve got your back! Cheers

Sarah and Ains: Personal

I have noted here that I wouldn’t be able to do what I do as a photographer if it weren’t for my family. Sarah is a constant support, and Ainsley, though a handful, is a source of humor, joy, and love. These two are such an important creative spark for me. Today was a really fun day! Slept in, which has been rare this last month, ate breakfast with the fam, and then ran off to shoot a wedding with Gabe Van Wyhe. The wedding was great, with beatiful blue sky, and a gorgeous puget sound in the background. Brandon and Sarah looked amazing, and everyone had a great time. I will post some of those shots coming up, but for now I’d like to share something fun from this morning: Ainsley in my shoes. Enjoy.

Piggies Spoons and Milk: Personal

So tonight I was working frantically on a recent project (one of those deadline of yesterday deals) when Sarah calls to me from the dining room, telling me I ought to bring out the camera. I grab it, with the 50 mil on, and on the way I jack up the ISO to around a thousand. I peak around the corner, and notice nothing about of the ordinary. Sarah sees me and motions for me to come in. I move into view of Ains, but still nothing about my daughters look or demeanor indicates that I need to be shooting. She turns to Ains and asks, “do you want a drink of your milk?” Ains looks at her, grabs the milk and begins to drink…while keeping hold of the two spoons. Background: she has been carrying the orange one around for several days now, and earlier tonight when Sarah was holding her and happened to open one of the counter drawers the look on Ainsley’s face generated this statement from Sarah: “You mean there are MORE!” Good times.

So Pretty: Personal

Taken out in the yard for the lighting, this was our first real attempt to get and keep Ains in piggies. Sarah kept saying “look, so pretty!” to encourage her to leave them in. This session lasted about 15 minutes. Enjoy. I know we do!
